BS EN 54-5-2017 pdf free download.Fire detection and fire alarm systems Part 5: Heat detectors Point heat detectors
4.2 Operational reliability
4.2 .1 Position of heat sensitive elements
The hea t se nsi ti ve eleme nt(s) or at least par t of it , excep t elements w it h auxiliary functi ons character istic co rr ector s) , shall be at a mm from the mo un ting su rface of the po i nt h eat detecto r. To confirm th is , t he p oint h eat detector sha ll be tested in accorda n ce w ith 5.2.1.
4.2.2 Individual alarm indication 4. 2.2 .1 Category A l, A2 , B , C or D p oint heat detectors shall be provided with an i ntegra l red vi sua l indicator , by which the ind ividual p oint heat detector , whic h released an alarm , can be id enti fi ed , until th e alar m condi t io n is reset . Where ot h er condi t io ns of th e point h eat de tec t or can be visually ind icated , th ey sha ll be cl ea rly disti ng uishab le from the al arm indication , e xcept when the point heat d etecto r is switched in to a service mode. For d etacha ble p oint heat detectors the indica t or may be integra l with the base or the po i nt heat detector head. The visual indicator shall be visible from a di stance of 6 m di rec tly below the point heat detector , in an am bie nt light i nt en sity up to 50 0 lx. To confi rm th is , the poi nt heat dete ct or sha ll be assess ed in acc or da nce wi th 5.2.2.1
4.2.2.2 Category E , F or G point he at de te ctors shall be provi ded with either an integral re d indicator , or with another means for locally indicating the al arm status of the point heat detector. To confirm th is , the point heat detector shall be assessed in acco rdan ce with 5.2.2.2 The alarm condition is reset manually at the control and indicating equipment (see EN 54-2). NOTE
4.2.3 Connection of ancillary devices Whe re the p oint heat detector provides for connections to ancillary devices (e.g. indicators , control relays) , open- or short-circuit failures of these connections shall not pr event the correct operation of the point h eat detector. To confirm this , the point heat detector shall be assessed in accordance with 5.2.3.
4.2.4 Monitoring of detachable detectors For detachab le point heat de tec tor s , a means shall be provided for a r emote monitoring system control and indicating equipment) to detect the remova l of the h ead from the base , in orde r to give a fault signa l. To confirm this , the po int heat detector shall be assessed in accordance with 5.2.4.
4.2.5 Manufacturer’s adjustments It shall not be possible to ch ange the manufacturer’s except by specia l means (e.g. a special code or tool, or by breaking or r emoving a seal). To confirm this , the point heat detector shall be assessed in accordance with 5.2 .5.
4.2.6 On-site adjustment ofresponse behaviour If there is provision fo r on-site adjustment of the response behaviour of the point heat detector then: for each set t ing , at which the manufacturer is stat ing a cor r esponding access to the adjustment m ea ns shall only be poss ible by the use of a code or specia l tool or by removing the point heat detector from its base or mounting; any other setting(s) which the manufacturer is not stating a cor r esponding category in accor dance to this standard , shall only be accessible by the use of a code or special too l, and it shall be clearly marked on the point heat detector or in the associated data. To confirm this , the po int heat d etecto r sha ll be assessed in accordance with 5.2.6. NOTE These adjustments can be carried out at the point heat detector or at the control and indicating equipmen t.
4.2.7 Software controlled detector (when provided)
4.2.7.1 General For point heat dete cto rs which rely on software control the requirements of 4.2.7.2 , 4.2.7.3 and 4.2.7.4 are applicable.BS EN 54-5 pdf download.
