5.3 Voltage and frequency ratings
The standard voltage ratings tot 601-ti three phase are 200 V. 230 V.460 V 575 V.2300 V. and 4000 V Voltage ratings for SOIls 3 phase are 220 V and 380 V When specified, a non-standard voltage shall be permitted.
5.4 Synchronous speed ratings
Synchronous speed ratings at 60Hz are 3600 r:min, 1800 rmin, 1200 r.’min, or 900 rmin
Synchronous speed ratings at 50Hz are 3000 rmin. 1500 r:min. 1000 r.’min. or 750 rmin.
5.5 Enclosures
Enclosures shall be totally enclosed fan cooled (TEFC) or totally enclosed non-ventilated tTIENV) and shall have a minimum degree of protection of IP 55. If replaceable shah seals are used to achieve this degree of protections, they shall be the noncontact or noncontacting-while-rotating type with a minimum expected seal life of live years under usual service conditions. Degrees of protection are defined in NEMA MG 1-2016. PartS. Drain fitting holes are permitted to be plugged during the enclosure ingress test.
6. Electrical performance
6.1 General
Unless otherwise specified us this standard. motor electric-al perfonmance and characteristics shall be in accordance with NEMA MG I –
6.2 Motor designs and starting characteristics
Motors shall have Design 13 tonluecurrent characteristics and starting capability as defined in NEMAMG 1-2016. Pan 12. Wlsere power and speed ratings fall outside Pan I Lcharacteflsticsaisd capabilities shall meet or exceed the specifications defined in NEMA MG 1-2016. Part 20.
All niotors shall meet NEMA MC 1-2016, Pan 30 and clause 31.4.4.2 ofNEMA MC 1-2016. Part 31.
6.3 Power supply variations
6.3.1 Sine wave supply voltage
a) Tlse motor’s power supply shall be follows: Motors shall operate successfully under running conditions at rated load with variation in the voltage or frequency not exceeding the following eonditions(from NEMAMG I):
I) + 10% of rated voltage, with rated frequency
2) + 5% of rated frequency. with rated voltage
b) Combination of voltage and frequency variation of 10% (sum of absolute values) of the rated values. provided that the frequency variation does not exceed +5% of rated frequency

e) Motors shall operate succes.stiilly under running conditions at rated load and frequency when the voltage unbalance at the motor terminals does not exceed 1% For voltage unbalance greater than 1%. the motor shall be derated in accordance with clause 14.36 of NEMA MC 1-20 16.
6.3.2 Adjustable speed drive (ASD) supply
Pulse width modulated I PWM) AND carrier srequcncy shall be 2 kHz or higher Refer to Annt’ It for ASI) application considerations,
NEMA has recognized the elevated stresses imposed on induction motors by adjustable frequency controls and has developed a performance standard for motors that are specific-ally identified as “inverter duly” or ‘inverter rated”. Motors used in ASt)s shall meet NI±MA MC 1-2016. Part 30 and clause 31.4.4.2 of NEMA MG 1.2016, Part 31.
6.3.2.1 ASD application parameters
The motors utilized with an ASI) shall be applied and designed as Follows:
a) The operating load shall not exceed the base nameplate rating of the motor
b) The motor shall be operated at or below nameplate peed.
e) The shah load profile shall be variable torque, such as centritligal tan, centrifugal pump, or cientnhigal compressor, where the torque varies approximately as the square of the peed.
d) l’he maximum exposed motor surface temperature shall not exceed 200 ‘C (392 ‘F) at any design load condition when operated on the ASD.
NOTE—An ‘exposed slstA’e” for totally enclosed motors itsetudes the iniernal siator and rotor sarfaces.
c) The motor shall have eSD nameplate infornsation in accordance with Item F) in 11.1.
NOTE—These Consnsomi ASD puranseters hase bees shown by experience not to he a sosece of ignition, Ho”s’eser. motor niufactswers and users shoald discass each application to determine the conditions mkscribed inc’ 3.2 I are satisfied atsd engineering judgment should be used sutien applysng nsotors in a isansedous (classified) lixation.
6.4 Insulation system and temperature rise
6.4.1 InsulatIon system
Insulation system shall beas follows
a) The motor shall have a nonbygroscopic. chemical- and humidity-resistant insulation system. The thermal rating of the insulation system shall be a minimum of Class F as defined in NEMA MG lAity lead wire with a temperature rating more than 5 ‘C less than the temperature rating of the insulation system in which it ts connected shall be separated Iron the windings by a barrier or envelope of matenal compatible with the insulation system. The temperature rating of the lead wire shall not be less than 125 ‘C(257 ‘El.
b) TIse completed. non-energized suitor with leads, without end bells or rotor, shall be csable of passing the insulation system humidity resistance test in 104.5.
e) The thermal classification of the insulation system shall be determined using IEEE Std 117 for random windings and IliEli Std 1776 for form-wound windings.IEEE 841 pdf download.
