ANSI INCITS 385-2019 pdf free download – Information Technology – Face Recognition Format for Data Interchange.
4Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply:
4.1CBEFF(Common Biometric Exchange Formats Framework)
A data format specifically for exchanging biometric data. lt provides for the encompassing of anybiometric type into a standard format.
4.2Color
A continuous tone image that has more than one channel, each of which is coded,e.g, with 8 bit.
4.3color Space
The number of bits used to define a pixel; defines the number of color or grey scales able to be assignedto each pixel.
4.4continuous Tone Image
An image whose components have more than one bit per sample.
4.5DPI (Dots per Inch)
measurement of scanner and printer resolution.4.6Grayscale
A continuous tone image that has only one luminance channel coded,e.g., with 8 bit. Also referred to asa monochrome or black-and-white image.
4.7Facial lmage
An electronic image based representation of the portrait of a person4.8Human Examination
The process of careful human comparison of a face image with a person or another face image toascertain the identity of the respective person by a detailed examination of facial features and structures.
4.9Human Verification
The process of human comparison of a face image with a person or another face image to ascertain theidentity of the respective person in a short time period.One-to-one (1:1) matching.
4.10ldentification
The process of searching though a list of face images to match against an input image(s).One-to-many(1:N) searching.
4.11ICAo (International Civil Aviation Organization)Sets the standards for Machine Readable Travel Documents.
4.12 lmage
A two-dimensional representation that encodes the luminance and texture of an object in a given lightingenvironment.
4.13JPEG
JPEG is one of two proposed compression standards for continuous tone images, the other beingJPEG2000. JPEG baseline standard was published in 1994 as ISOIEC 10918-1 and ITU-T Rec. T.81. litwas produced by the Joint Photographic Experts Group.
4.14JPEG2000
JPEG2000 is one of two proposed compression standards for continuous tone images, the other beingJPEG. lt was published in 20o0 as Iso/iEC 15444-1.
4.15Feature Point
Reference point(s) in a face image as used by face recognition algorithms, e.g, position of the eyes.Commonly referred to as a landmark.
4.15Pixel
A pixel is a picture element – one on an n by m matrix of picture elements, where n is across (horizontal)and m is down (vertical). In this document, n and m are measured from the top left corner of the image.
4.16Portrait
A photograph of a person. The portrait will include the full head with all hair in most cases, as well asneck and top of shoulders.
4.17verification
The process of ascertaining that two images or image inputs represent the same person.One-to-one( 1:1) matching.
5The Face Record Format
5.1 Overview
The face pattern record format is used to provide interoperability between uses of face recognitionsystems and digital face image storage systems.
The record format contains face data discernable from the human examination of a face or face image, including gender and other categorizations that may be useful for search systems, and the face imageintensity information itself in a compressed or uncompressed data representation.
This standard defines the composition of the facial record. Each record shall pertain to a single subjectand shall contain one or more images of a human face.
Adherence to this format requires compliance to the standards referred to above. ln particular, theheader and the entire data structure shall be CBEFF compatible and the image data shall be encodedusing either JPEG or JPEG2000.
The record structure is depicted in Figure 2.ANSI INCITS 385 pdf download.
