Multi-Layer Rotationally-Molded Polyethylene Rainwater Harvesting Tanks
7.2.1General
Multi-layer rotationally-molded polyethylene rainwater harvesting tanks shall have at least two layers ofpolyethylene.
7.2.2compound
Polyethylene resins for multi-layer rotationally-molded rainwater harvesting tanks may be combined withcopolymers, pigments, and impact modifiers which together are suitable for manufacture.
7.2.3 Physical Properties
7.2.3.1 Stress Crack Resistance
The stress crack resistance of multi-layer rotationally-molded polyethylene rainwater harvesting tanksshall be determined in accordance with Section12.3.1 or 12.3.2.
7.2.3.2Tensile Strength
when determined in accordance with ASTM D638, the tensile strength of polyethylene for multi-layerrotationally-molded rainwater harvesting tanks shall be at least 16.5 MPa (2,400 psi).
7.2.3.3 Flexural Modulus of Elasticity
When determined in accordance with ASTM D790, the flexural modulus of elasticity of polyethylene formulti-layer rotationally-molded rainwater harvesting tanks shall be at least 552 MPa (80,000 psi).
7.2.3.4 Flexural strength
When determined in accordance with ASTM D790, the flexural strength of polyethylene for multi-layerrotationally-molded rainwater harvesting tanks shall be at least 6.8 MPa(1,000 psi).
7.2.3.5lmpact Resistance
When determined in accordance with ASTM D5420, the Gardner impact at 3.6 kg (8 lb) for polyethylenefor multi-layer rotationally-molded rainwater harvesting tanks shall be at least 500 mm (20 in).

7.3.2.1Stress Crack Resistance
The stress crack resistance for single-layer injection-molded tanks shall be determined in accordance with(a) Section 12.3.1 for non-polyolefin compounds; or
(b) Section 12.3.1 or 12.3.2 for polyolefin compounds.
7.3.2.2Tensile Strength
When determined in accordance with ASTM D638, the tensile strength of thermoplastic for single-layerinjection-molded tanks shall be at least 16.5 MPa(2,400 psi).
7.3.2.3 Flexural Modulus of Elasticity
When determined in accordance with ASTM D790, the flexural modulus of elasticity of thermoplastic forsingle-layer injection-molded tanks shall be at least 862 MPa (125,000 psi).
7.3.3Wall Thickness
Single-layer injection-molded thermoplastic rainwater harvesting tank
(a) combined wall thickness of the side walls, tops, bottoms, covers, and inlet and outlet ends shall be atleast 5.0 mm (o.2 in); and
(b) wall thickness of partitions shall be at least 4.8 mm (0.19 in).
7.4Finish
Interior and exterior wall surfaces of thermoplastic rainwater harvesting tanks shall be smooth and non-porous.
